Proper distribution of liquid implementation inside the tower is the key factor of achieving high efficiency. If any mal distribution (departure from uniform distribution of phases) occurs, it will lead to less contact between the liquid and gas phases, hence less mass transfer and lower efficiency. Apart from typical liquid distributors (as shown below), we can also design customized distributors to suit the needs of a specific process.

For small diameter towers, orifice or nozzles type distributors are recommended, while trough distributors are suitable for large diameter columns. The perforated pipe (ladder pipe) distributor is satisfactory for clean liquids.
